Changing Lives Through Humanistic Coaching

The science behind our transformative life coaching is based on the 'third force' in psychology by Maslow, often known as the Humanistic Approach.

We added a modern twist to this established framework, which we call the Primal Methodology. For the past 10 years, we have used it to successfully guide more than 50 mentees around the world to achieve self-actualisation and optimise their personal growth.

The Three Primal Instincts

Survival, Social, and Carnal: Our Take On the Modernisation of Maslow's Humanistic Approach

  • THE SURVIVAL INSTINCT

  • THE SOCIAL INSTINCT

  • THE CARNAL INSTINCT

In Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, the Survival instinct is focused on obtaining the most fundamental level of human needs - food, water, shelter, and rest. When unmet, they dominate a person’s life, often leaving little room for higher-level goals like self-fulfillment or personal growth.

In life coaching, addressing this instinct is essential. Mentees stuck in "survival mode" — whether due to financial stress, or mental and physical burnout — may struggle to envision or pursue meaningful goals. We recognise the gravity of this issue, which is why addressing these challenges is our first step in helping mentees regain a sense of safety and stability, creating space for both personal and professional growth.

Once survival needs are addressed, we'll guide mentees toward the higher tiers of Maslow’s hierarchy.

As humans, we are inherently social beings. Genuine connection and meaningful interaction are one of the cornerstones to a fulfilling life. We seek out relationships - professional, platonic, or romantic - to fulfil our sense of belonging and create authentic connections.

Helping our mentees tackle this challenge is a pivotal part of our curriculum. Many of our mentees seek coaching to build stronger communication skills which help them connect with others on a deeper level whilst setting healthy boundaries and fostering authentic connections.

We help mentees understand and nurture this instinct — the ultimate goal being the creation of a strong support system inside and out of the workplace.

The final — and often most misunderstood — part of the core trio we address is the Carnal instinct. While views on intimacy, desire, and romance vary across cultures, this instinct remains a fundamental part of what it means to be human.

At Primal Origins, we understand how essential it is to acknowledge this instinct not just in the physical sense, but as a symbol of drive, ambition, and emotional fulfilment. The urge to pursue romantic relationships, the desire to feel attractive or desired, or even the ambition to climb the corporate ladder — all stem from the same place: a human need to feel seen, valued, and connected.

We help mentees explore this aspect without judgement. True growth begins when we’re willing to confront all parts of ourselves — even the ones society tells us to keep hidden.
