The S.M.A.R.T Productivity Framework!
Take advantage of this simple framework to boost your productivity.
CAREER COACHING
Productivity might sound like a daunting word to many, especially those that might find that 'I just want to go to work and collect my salary at the end of the month’.
But if you ever had the thought of going after a promotion, moving onto a higher paying job, or simply even getting better at your job, you should be following this framework.
S.M.A.R.T
Specific :
1. Make your goal specific, try to use some of these guiding questions to help you get there.
2. What do you want to achieve?
3. How are you intending to achieve it?
4. When do you want to get this done?
5. With whom do you want to complete this?
6. What are your constraints and limitations?
Measurable :
Ensure the your goal is measurable. This means that you need it to be quantifiable (with evidence) to back your goal. For example, I need to read 5 books a month in order to be more productive (you can measure success by using the number of books you have read).
Attainable :
In order to achieve your goal, you would need to put in effort, time and a certain cost. Without which it will never be attainable. Do ensure that you identify these 3 components before embarking on this goal.
Relevant :
Why do you really want to reach this goal? Does it map to your own goals in both career and your personal life? By completing some micro goals will it get you to closer to the larger goal?
Timely :
Once you put a deadline to your goal or sub-goals it becomes realistic, there is a sense of urgency to get things done. However, to ensure you get to that end goal, make sure its NOT a timeline that puts you in a comfortable position. It should induce STRESS and push you to achieve your goals.
If you are struggling with productivity, this is an easy enough framework to adopt and implement for both your career & personal life.
